Two histories. One family. Plenty still being figured out.
We are Abi and Liam. A couple, parents, and the two voices behind Life Unfiltered. We did not start this because we had life worked out. We started it because the conversations we were having at home felt too important, too funny and sometimes too complicated to keep to ourselves.
Real talk. Real life. No filter.
This is not the polished version
We are not here to present a perfect relationship or a perfect family.
We are here to talk honestly about the work behind them. The difficult choices. The ordinary acts of care. The moments one of us carries more so neither of us has to carry everything alone. The times we disagree, change our minds, laugh at the chaos or admit that we still do not know the answer.
Before there was us
We did not meet with blank histories.
By the time we found one another, life had already taught us both a few things the hard way.
Abi had been a single parent from day one, trying to make work fit around childcare, facing financial pressure and learning that loving your child does not make every part of motherhood easy. Liam knew the weight of fatherhood, ambition, staying too long and the regret that can come from decisions left unmade.
Neither of us needed rescuing. We needed honesty, patience and the courage not to make a new person pay for wounds they did not create. Building a blended family was never about replacing anyone or arriving with a ready-made role. It has been built through trust, school runs, packed lunches, ordinary conversations, boundaries and thousands of small moments that help a family feel safe.
“You do not start again from nothing. You start with everything you survived.”
We almost met. Again and again.
Before we actually spoke, our lives had been brushing past one another for years. Maybe it was fate. Maybe it was coincidence. Maybe we simply could not meet properly until we were both ready.

Why we made the podcast
The useful conversations are rarely the neat ones.
Life Unfiltered is the conversation we wish more people felt able to have.
We talk about relationships, parenting, blended families, mental health, privacy, trust, work, money, happiness, luck, purpose and the strange pressure to look as if everything is fine. Not as experts handing out perfect answers, but as two people sharing what worked, what did not and what we are still learning.
Sometimes we agree. Sometimes we really do not. The point is not to win. It is to be honest enough to understand the question better, and hopefully help somebody listening feel less alone in their own answer.
We say the part people often keep behind closed doors.
Love and struggle can exist together. A good life can still feel heavy. A difficult feeling does not make somebody a bad parent, partner or person.
We would rather explore a question than force a tidy answer.
Fairness, happiness, success, privacy and family rarely fit into a caption. We make room for the contradiction.
The serious and the ridiculous are both part of the story.
There are difficult conversations, quick-fire debates, recording chaos and the occasional truth that was probably meant to stay behind the scenes.
You do not have to agree with us to belong in the conversation.
If an episode helps you ask a better question, talk to somebody you love or feel recognised for a moment, it has done something worthwhile.
Why this website exists
Some stories need more room than a microphone or a social post can give them.
Social media is good at quick moments. It is less good at context, nuance and the parts of life that do not fit neatly into a reel. This is our own space to slow down, follow things up and share more of the life around the podcast.
The smaller bits
Family updates, behind-the-scenes moments, ordinary days and the little stories that get overlooked when a bigger podcast topic takes over.
The bigger bits
Thoughts and experiences that need more care, more context or simply more space than we can give them in one episode.
The conversation after the conversation
What we kept thinking about after recording, answers that changed, questions from listeners and topics that deserve a second look.
The useful stuff
Tips, things that have helped us, lessons from mistakes and practical ideas for relationships, parenting, everyday life and starting again.
Pull up a chair
You are welcome here exactly as you are.
You do not need a perfect family, a five-year plan or a polished answer. Come for the podcast, stay for the stories around it, and join us as we keep building a life that is honest, safe, imperfect and ours.
