I’m now looking for a new hobby. Being in my late 30s (I use “late” loosely too), picking up something new isn’t exactly as easy as it used to be. I have no idea what I want to do. All I know is that it needs to be on a Wednesday or Thursday, as I don’t have my boys on those days. I’m not saying that I couldn’t go out and do something when they are here, but we’ve had too much of a battle for routine over the years for me to finally have a fixed pattern with them and then go out when I have them!

I want to do something that is either fun in its own right or Type 2 fun, where it challenges me physically or mentally and I feel good about myself afterwards. I probably just need to go and do anything and not overthink it.

I’ve spent a bit too long doing solo activities like cycling, running, etc. (and I’m still not exactly an athlete). It would be great to have something that was a bit easier to pick up and do with other people.

My problem is that I’ll do something once and then decide it isn’t for me, or the group is too cliquey, or it’s too expensive, or it doesn’t work time-wise… I find an excuse for nearly everything, then moan that I’m doing nothing.

So whatever I find, I need to stick at it and see it through for a decent amount of time before I sack it off!
