Caught up with my mum today, after a visit to watch the new Spider-Man movie with the kids and Abi (which I’ll come back to, because Abi and movies… it makes me laugh…). Whilst talking with her, we were discussing Disneyland Paris as a friend of hers is looking to go at the end of the year.

We got talking about whether or not it was better to drive, or get the train, stay local or stay a bit further afield… all of the things the kids don’t give a shit about, but we care more about than the actual day. I explained that we’d driven in from a campsite and we found it pretty good and easy to do, but the parking at Disneyland can be a fair old trek and that we got lucky that we were one of the first cars into the park… but that meant we were one of the last cars to get out.

Getting out is manic, as everyone is leaving at the same time, after the fireworks. My mum asked how long it actually took to leave, which would normally be about a 20-minute walk from the firework location back to the car, but for us it was 40 minutes, because Lewis was desperate for a shit and simply couldn’t hold out any longer. We’d stopped at the toilets by the car park, but they were rammed, so he had to queue…

Why do kids pick the worst times to need a visit to the toilet… It not only added another 20 minutes to our journey to the car, but then we were stuck behind cars trying to get out of Disney.

This isn’t just a one-off event either, with 3 kids in the car, we often hear one complaining that they need to stop for the loo, but the other 2 saying they don’t. Fifteen minutes later, another one will complain that they need to stop again for the toilet and that they “Didn’t need to go” when we stopped beforehand.

When do kids start synchronizing their pisses?… That’s a day I long for!

They all manage to hold their bladders on the Xbox though, or watching something in the cinema, especially if snacks are involved.

Back on the Cinema topic though, the Spider-Man movie was pretty good, all of us boys thought it was a good, action-filled film that felt properly Marvel… Abi cried through a large proportion of it, after telling me that she shouldn’t have come because “It’s not her sort of movie”. I’ve never seen her cry so much at a film, not just tears rolling down her cheek, proper blubbing, choking on the air she was breathing in 😅
